WD External Hard Drive – WD Elements 2 TB USB 2.0 Review
The 2TB USB 2.0 WD External hard drive is a simple “plug and play” storage device with a number of great features.
1) The device comes free of annoying auto-loading programs. There are many excellent backup programs available. And, of course, there is always the option of dragging and dropping files into the drive.
2) The USB does make any sound -no fans, no disk chattering. Voices coming from the storage device can be annoying. The device is silent and remains so after months of use. This lack of sound may be because the device does not have any holes for ventilation as in other WD models.
3) The device does not heat up. The lack of vents may lead you to think that it becomes hot, but they device only warms up slightly even after hours of use. This is a big plus as heat is a killer for electronics.
4) There are no blinking lights distracting you from your work. There is only one light on the back side of the device. The blinking light is a feature that companies like to add to confirm that the device is working, but it can get annoying, especially in the dark.
5) The dimensions of the WD external hard drive are 7 x 4.9 x 1.4 inches, which makes it slimmer compared to some other similar products in the market. The weight is 2.2 pounds. Read the rest of this entry »
